CTMSS On-Demand Webinars: An Introduction to TMS

The Clinical TMS Society is offering four 1-hour on-demand webinars focused on the introduction to TMS.

CTMSS On-Demand Webinars: An Introduction to TMS is geared primarily for new clinicians and TMS operators/technicians. In addition, experienced clinicians and technicians who seek a stronger knowledge base would also benefit from the review and updates.

Participants will learn:

  • the history of rTMS, including knowledge of indications, clinical efficacy, review of data;

  • a review of the significant scientific literature giving rise to the technology's adoption;

  • an understanding of practical office implementation;

  • a review of the evidence for conditions other than depression.

Format: On-Demand Webinars

Cost:

IAN COOK, MD, DFAPA

Dr. Ian Cook is the Director of the Los Angeles TMS Institute and Professor Emeritus at UCLA.  For over 20 years, he was on the full-time faculty at UCLA, where he held an Endowed Chair in Depression Research and founded the TMS Service in 2009. He has been on the Board of the Clinical TMS Society since 2013, is a Distinguished Fellow of the APA, and was Course Director for the 2020 Master Class in TMS at the APA’s Annual Meeting that has been reborn in today's course.


SAYDRA WILSON, MD

Dr. Saydra Wilson is an Early Career Psychiatrist whose passion for interventional psychiatry led her to the Clinical TMS Society where she has been a member since 2018. She is Co-chair of the Outreach Committee which produces the society's monthly Grand Rounds. She recently left private practice and went back to do a Neuromodulation Fellowship at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.


MICHELLE COCHRAN, MD, DFAPA

Dr. Michelle Cochran currently works as the medical director of the Nashville Center for Hope & Healing and the NeuroScience and TMS Treatment Centers. In addition to her medical director roles, she maintains a role as a private practice psychiatrist. Dr. Cochran has experience treating a variety of psychiatric conditions, using a comprehensive team approach with therapy, counseling, pharmacogenomic testing, medication, and neuromodulation (transcranial magnetic stimulation) since 2011.


REBECCA ALLEN, MD, MPH

Dr. Rebecca Mae Allen completed fellowship in Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Neurology at Harvard Medical School Brigham and Women’s Hospital in 2017.  Since then she has been Director of Neuropsychiatry and Research at Seattle Neuropsychiatric Treatment Center, where she provides TMS, ECT, and esketamine, and is the local PI for two multisite trials.  She is a Board Member, the Treasurer, and a co-chair of the Insurance Committee for the Clinical TMS Society, and is the President-Elect of her local APA chapter. In addition, she is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington and teaches residents on their neuromodulation rotation.

Objectives - After Attending This Program You Should Be Able To

  1. Identify evidence-based approaches to continuation and maintenance treatment based on recent peer-reviewed literature
  2. Discuss ongoing treatment of unmedicated patients who have recovered from  major depressive disorder.
  3. Discuss putative, predictive biomarkers of response to repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) treatment.
