Greetings. I am a psychiatrist who has recently opened a new outpatient clinical practice in Lafayette, named the California Neuromodulation Institute (CANMI). I have expertise in both clinical psychopharmacology (including ketamine) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for the treatment of diverse mental health conditions. I am currently available for new referrals for adults with mood or anxiety disorders. This includes individuals in concurrent psychotherapy, and/or those who have had significant prior medication trials. Referrals from psychotherapists would typically be patients who may benefit from medication in addition to therapy. Referrals from psychiatrists would typically be patients who have already experienced an inadequate response to at least a few antidepressant trials.

I accept most major commercial insurance plans and cash-pay patients, though not Medi-Cal, Medicare, or VA/active military plans. I also do not provide service to minors, or persons with substance use disorders, personality disorders, eating disorders, dementias, and some other conditions. You are welcome to discuss cases with me for more detail about program eligibility.

My background includes teaching TMS and medication management to various clinical disciplines, and I have contributed to the scientific knowledge of how these treatments work, via research at leading medical schools such as UCSF, UCLA and UC Davis. I have published a primer on TMS directed at both prospective patients and referring providers, to aid in understanding this treatment better and what to expect during and after treatment. I'm happy to share this with you on request. My office is easily accessible by car, BART and local bus, in a highly-walkable, low-density and beautiful neighborhood in Lafayette. It is within a 30-minute drive from most of the northern regions of both Alameda county and the Highway 680 corridor in Contra Costa county.
