Keynote Speaker: Monica Bernhard
Chief Executive Officer Monica Bernhard leads Kitsap Mental Health Services, a community behavioral health provider located in the northwest corner of Washington State. KMHS has been providing comprehensive, recovery-oriented behavioral health care since 1978, primarily serving low-income and uninsured individuals with moderate to severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders. The agency has 600 employees, and offers a variety of outpatient, inpatient, residential and crisis services.
Monica began her career in the telecommunications industry before switching to nonprofit organizations, where she has held many leadership positions in the community. At KMHS, her roles have included chief financial officer and chief operating officer prior to becoming CEO in 2022. She has a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Washington, a master’s in finance from Seattle University and an executive certificate in Non-Profit Leadership from Duke University.
Monica is a strong advocate for equitable access to housing, mental health and substance use treatment services, regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. She will be speaking about the community mental health system in the United States, and how the addition of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation at KMHS will be life changing for clients who have struggled for years with Major Depressive Disorder that has been unresponsive to other therapies.
