Clinical TMS Society - Member Code of Ethics*

Section 1 - A member shall be dedicated to providing competent clinical care, with compassion and respect for human dignity and rights.

Section 2 - A member shall uphold the standards of professionalism and be honest, respectful, and ethical in all professional interactions and shall refrain from disparaging remarks or behavior, whether within the society or on public forums.

Section 3 - A member shall respect the law and also recognize a responsibility to seek changes in those requirements which are contrary to the best interests of the patient.

Section 4 - A member shall respect the rights of patients, colleagues, and other health professionals, and shall safeguard patient confidences and privacy within the constraints of the law.

Section 5 - A member shall continue to study, apply, and advance scientific knowledge, maintain a commitment to continuing education, make relevant information available to patients, colleagues, and the public, obtain consultation, and use the talents of other health professionals when indicated.

Section 6 - A member shall, in the provision of appropriate patient care, except in emergencies, be free to choose whom to serve, with whom to associate, and the environment in which to provide clinical care.

Section 7 - A member shall recognize a responsibility to participate in activities contributing to the improvement of the community and the betterment of public health.

Section 8 - A member shall, while caring for a patient, regard responsibility to the patient as paramount.

Section 9 - A member shall support access to clinical care for all people.

Section 10 - A member shall be transparent to the best of his or her ability in disclosing, in a timely manner, financial and other conflicts of interest in accordance with the Society’s policies.

*A member who has been found to violate this code of ethics may be subject to disciplinary action.
