Message From The President

It is hard to believe that we are fast approaching May again! This year will be the 5th annual meeting for CTMSS. The Annual Meeting Committee led by Todd Hutton and Paul Croarkin have an informative and engaging program planned. If you have not attended a prior meeting or if it has been a while, consider a trip to San Diego in May.  Having had the privilege of attending college and medical school in San Diego, I can say that there are not many cities like it with its world class weather, the proximity to Mexico and beaches to name a few attractions.

If you are new to TMS or considering it, consider attending our Pulses Program. Michelle Cochran our current vice president has developed this foundational program for practitioners new to the field. By coming a day early, you will get exposure in a small group environment to all four of the FDA cleared TMS systems as well as thought leaders who have led the way in clinical practice and research. Enrollment is limited!

Some who can’t attend the annual meeting might ask “is there a reason to join CTMSS?”  During 2016 we focused on member benefits and we will continue to increase membership and the benefits of membership through 2017. The outreach committee, led by Kim Cress has worked on several items to increase the benefits of membership. The committee has produced two fabulous Grand Round Webinars to date with many more to come during 2017.

New this year with your membership comes web access to the journal Brain Stimulation (http://www.brainstimjrnl.com/). This is the premier journal to get the most up to date research on TMS and other neuromodulation therapies. Stay tuned as we get ready to offer this great new benefit this spring. If you have not already done so, check out The Clinical TMS Society Consensus Review and Treatment Recommendations for TMS Therapy. It tops the list of “most read” for the journal and is open access.

Finally, if you have enjoyed the CTMSS community and the increased benefits of membership, consider an opportunity to serve and lead within CTMSS. There are many committees that need active members and soon elections will be held for the board of directors and officers. As someone once said 80% of our success comes when our members show up. When new members engage in committees, we get new ideas and fresh perspectives which makes the organization 100% successful!
